Braintree Laboratories is a privately held pharmaceutical
company that was founded in 1982 in Braintree, Massachusetts.
Braintree has four prescription product lines in the US market
in two therapeutic categories -- gastrointestinal lavages and
prescription laxatives.
Braintree Laboratories pioneered the first gastrointestinal
lavage in 1984 with the introduction of
GoLYTELY® (PEG-3350 and electrolytes for oral
solution). GoLYTELY is indicated for bowel cleansing prior to
colonoscopy and barium enema x-ray examination. GoLYTELY was the
first to market with this innovative bowel prep technology and
was soon adopted as a standard prepping procedure.
The 1990's have seen the introduction of a new generation of
gastrointestinal lavages. NuLYTELY®
(PEG-3350, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and potassium
chloride for oral solution), a reformulation of the original
GoLYTELY, provides patients with an improved taste and a 52%
less sodium alternative to the other lavages on the market. The
NuLYTELY brand has since branched into 4 line extensions which
include Cherry Flavored NuLYTELY, Lemon-Lime
Flavored NuLYTELY, Orange Flavored NuLYTELY and NuLYTELY with
Flavor Packs.
In 1999, Braintree received approval for MiraLax™ (polyethylene glycol 3350, NF powder for solution), the first
new prescription laxative in 23 years.
The approval and launch of HalfLytely® and Bisacodyl
tablets Bowel Prep Kit (PEG-3350,
sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and potassium chloride for
oral solution and bisacodyl delayed-release tablets) ensued in
2004.
The HalfLytely and
Bisacodyl tablets Bowel Prep Kit
enables patients to ingest half the volume of solution
traditionally required, significantly reducing bowel-prep
related discomfort.
Braintree Laboratories is a fully integrated pharmaceutical
company maintaining its own manufacturing facilities,
warehousing operations, sales and marketing divisions and a
pioneering research and development team.
